Prospect Residence
Bright and airy kitchen remodel of a colonial home in South Orange NJ. The original small and dark kitchen had a dysfunctional layout that isolated it from the rest of the home but did have an authentic stained-glass window that features a single rose. This unique window was a must-keep and its simple motif served as a source of inspiration for the look and feel of the new design.
The kitchen’s central location between an enclosed dining room and an underutilized screened-in porch presented the opportunity to expand in two directions. Opening up the space created an airy layout that provides great flow to the dining area as well as a new sun-filled sitting nook with garden access and views. Opening the flow of the kitchen allowed the addition of an island offering generous workspace and informal dining for a family of five.
White and light oak cabinetry, white marble countertops and the soft curves of the organic tile motif lend brightness and elegance to the room. Crisp dark elements and brass accents add balance and create a cohesive look throughout.
