Jennifer Kitchen
Kitchen renovation for a Tudor home in Maplewood NJ. The aim of this project was to modernize the kitchen space and create a new connection to the adjacent dining room and half bath, while respecting the home’s Tudor architecture and the client’s mid-century modern aesthetic.
The kitchen design facilitated better flow and visual connections by flipping the layout and relocating the refrigerator and several cabinets to the opposite wall. This allowed for the addition of a versatile center island that accommodates storage, a wine fridge, a microwave and offers a place for work and casual meals. Matching cabinetry lines the walk-through pantry leading to the powder room and reinforces the connection between rooms and the cohesive aesthetic throughout the space. The warm Tudor feel is achieved with wood cabinets in three tones that give the illusion of taller ceilings. Clean brass accessories and a bright backsplash keep the overall design fresh and contemporary.
